Flexible hours
For employees without set working times: what’s required is a number of working hours per day — say 8 hours — at any time of day. Hudoori calculates the rest.

How to set it up
- In “Sites & shifts”, create a shift, choose Flexible hours and enter the working hours required per day (from half an hour).
- No start or end time: the shift covers the whole day.
- Assign it to an employee like any shift; “a shift for a specific day or a day off” still works with it.
- The check-in rules you set for the employee stay the same: the site geofence and the live photo.
How a day is calculated
| Case | Calculation |
|---|---|
| Check-in | Any time of day — “present”, never late |
| Leaving before completing the hours | The shortfall is deducted like early leave, after the grace period |
| Working beyond the required hours | Overtime, approved by the manager if approval is enabled |
| Working past midnight | Counted in full for the day it started |
| No check-in by the end of the day | Absence, deducted as the required hours |
| Unpaid leave | Deducted as the required hours |
Flexible shifts have no fixed breaks: working time runs from check-in to check-out.
If an employee forgets to check out
- Two hours after the day ends, they get a “Record your check-out time” notification.
- They enter their check-out time in the app, with an optional note.
- The manager accepts it — the check-out is recorded at that time and the day is recalculated — or rejects it.
- If no one reviews it within the excuse-acceptance period (7 days by default), it is approved automatically.
- An approved month never changes.
When arrival recording starts
For flexible hours, the app records an employee’s arrival at the site from 5:00 a.m. by default; you can change it in “Attendance settings” up to 12:00 noon. So an employee’s day doesn’t start at midnight just because their phone stayed at the site overnight.
With hourly deductions
If you choose deductions by hourly cost, shortfall and absence are deducted at the employee’s own hourly cost.
Frequently asked questions
Can some employees be on flexible hours and others on fixed shifts?
Yes. Shifts are assigned per employee, and fixed shifts are not affected.
Is lateness counted on flexible hours?
No. Checking in at any time of day is never late — what matters is completing the required hours.
What if an employee works more than required?
The extra time counts as overtime, approved by the manager if overtime approval is enabled.
Does the employee need another app?
No. The same app on Android, or the phone’s browser.
